Ill Valley cycle route - northern section

Distance 47,3 km
Difficulty Occasional practice
Elevation 8 m

On the northern part of the Ill cycle route, you can cycle from Sélestat to the Alsatian capital Strasbourg. Along the entire route, you will cycle along the Ill River, but also cross the Alsatian Ried. This floodplain, typical of Alsace, is known for its diverse fauna and remarkable flora, but also for its numerous watercourses and nature reserves. Along the way, be sure to visit the abbey church of Saint-Maurice d'Ebermunster, a true jewel of Alemannic Baroque and the only representation of Vorarlberg art in France. You will also pass through Benfeld with its famous jacquement of the town hall tower and then through the sugar town of Erstein, home to the Wurth France Museum with one of the most important private collections of modern and contemporary art in Europe. Also take the opportunity to refresh yourself at the water features along the route.
